I just had a question and I was not sure if this is where this would fit in this section. I wanted to ask if spirits speak other languages. I mean like if the person spoke maybe french or Spanish or something would their spirit still try to speak it? I mean I have seen and heard evidence where the spirit was speaking a different language, but I just thought it was something else like muffled words or something.

So I guess what I am asking is that does language stay with us after death? I know it is a weird question, but I looked it up and could not really find an answer. So knowing that all of you are great detectives do you think you could help me out with this.

I've wondered this too. I remember watching the GA episode where they investigated Poveglia in Italy and they did get Italian responses on their evp's to questions asked in Italian but I think (don't recall) they also got English in evp's. I can't imagine there would be communication barriers in the afterlife.

I know a person in Germany who's gotten EVP's in several languages (English, German, Russian) She does not speak Russian. I've reviewed a few of these and have validated some of her stuff.
I have caught some in Spanish myself and some of what I would call Native American.

I'm new to the forum and just found this thread, so: sorry to chime in a bit late.
I'd like to share my observations in regards to the language question with you all.

I live in Germany, but when I started recording for EVP, I did speak English at first, because I wanted to contact a deceased R.A.F. pilot who crashed near our house in 1972. So I took my recorder outside to the crash site and asked in English, if he (name is known) was still there, in English...

A few days later, I left my recorder in my room in the basement, and went for a doggie walk, recorder was switched on unintentionally - I didn't know until I came back an hour later and saw the little red light... checked for anything unusual - the room had been empty and the windows and door closed (it was January and freezing) - didn't expect to find anything... fell off my chair when I heard a deep male voice saying something in English...

A few days later I registered with a UK-based EVP- Research-website, posted my recording and let others hear it.
It turned out that there was a male voice saying :"Follow me" , and a much fainter female voice, saying in German: "Wir gehen besser" ("we better leave now") - thats how it all started.

In the months to follow, I recorded tons of EVP, inside my house and out of doors, always coming from the same 4 entities. The entities have been all identified by name - they gave me their first names only, and some info during the time they wanted to gain my confidence, and one of them even confirmed my identification of her on ITC Bridge Stream, she was not amused that I had found out!

They are all deceased humans who know very well that they are dead and resent that very, very much.
These entities were a group of four, they are all connected to each other for reasons unknown to me.
There was one male, the strongest of them, died in 1795 in Frankfurt, Germany - a German.
Two female Germans, one speaking with a distinct Bavarian accent - even when her EVP came through in English, there was a Bavarian accent!- these two both convicted murderesses, beheaded, both from 19th century.
The fourth is an Italian female by birth, left physical existence in 1957.

The EVPs came through in English and in German, sometimes both languages mixed within one message or even one phrase. Twice, there were words in different languages: "Sayonara" - Japanese; and
"Mujeres" - spanish. I don't speak either language, although I know these two words and their meanings.

The most interesting thing, imo, was this:
the male entity, a German who left the physical plane in 1795, were using modern colloquial expressions, one example :
"Cool dogs!"
Now I use the word 'cool' all the time, in both English and German....

I am living a mostly bi-lingual life, even now that I live in Germany, I still speak, write, read and listen to English on a daily basis.

Based on my long-term experience with these bad eggs, I think now that it doesn't matter what language one speaks - they understand them all, maybe through telepathy, and whats maybe even more interesting: they adapt their language to the contact on the physical side - hence an entity from
the Baroque era using modern colloquial expressions.....

So, now you're free of the gang of 4?

The reason they may be together is they may be family. When my father passed, a psychic friend of mine told me he was met by his biological father, an aunt and a family member that was around as a spirit since the 1600's! She said he would not have known her or her name when he alive in this lifetime, but when he crossed, he knew her. That kinda blew my mind. If all you spirits are bound together and are from different time periods, they may be related. I think the longer they are around, they acclimate to the time period that is current. I bet they are quick studies in languages too. JMO
